QUETTA: DIG Police Abdul Razaq Cheema has said that law enforcing agencies have arrested around 1500 suspects and have recovered large quantity of weapons and explosives in the operation launched as a part of operation Radd-ul-Fassad launched earlier this year.
He was speaking to an emergent press conference called at his office here on Wednesday. He said that as many as 96 threats were received in entire Balochistan while 40 in Quetta, however, law enforcing agencies acted proactively and 5 terrorists were killed in encounter with FC and Police, 1kg bomb was defused, 6 meter prime code, 4 meter safety use wire, pistol and 4 bullets were recovered. He said that while in FC encounter 8 pistols, magazines and 29 bullets were recovered.
He said that 52 IBOs search and combing operations resulted in arrest of 71 suspects and 2 Kalashnikovs, 45 pistols, revolvers, 4 mega roof, 12 magzines, short-guns and 414 bullets were recovered.
He said that 1053 foreigners were arrested during the last two months, including 92 most wanted, 157 absconder suspects involved in heinous crimes, adding that 544 were arrested who were wanted in different other crimes. He said that 8 accused were also arrested who were involved in aerial firing incidents.
He further said that in 7 incidents of bomb blasts 8 people lost their lives, 25 sustained injuries while 2 bombs were defused. He said that 8 cases were lodged in this regard, adding that work on the first phase of safe city has begun and security of the schools has been negotiated with the Private School Association.
