Missing persons, CPEC top-most party priority for alliance: Akhtar Mengal

QUETTA: Leader of the Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal) Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal has made the issue of missing persons and CPEC as the top­-of-the-list priorities for becoming part of any coalition at centre or province.

Moreover, he has also refused to meet Chairman PTI Imran Khan at Bani Gala, saying if a meeting is desired in this regard, Imran Khan can meet him at Balochistan House.

Talking to newsmen outside Balochistan House here on Thursday, Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal said that their party cannot support any nominee blindly for the office of Chief Minister. In the meanwhile, Pakistan Tehriek-e-Insaaf sorted the assistance of BNP-M for formation of government at centre.

Talking to newsmen following a meeting with a delegation of PTI comprising Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind and Naeem ul Haq that called on him at Balochistan House, Sardar Akhter Mengal expressed his gratitude towards PTI for their invitation to be a part of the coalition government at centre, adding that he had put forth the issues of Balochistan before the delegation of PTI which include the safe recovery of missing persons and reservations over CPEC. He was of the view that the number of missing persons has increased.

According to the BNP sources, Sardar Akhtar Mengal has demanded of PTI Chairman to either make Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind the next CM of Balochistan or given him the authority to decide for himself.

With regard to formation of government, he said that JUI is their ally and a decision as to join coalition or sit on opposition benches shall be decided following mutual consultation.

Meanwhile, the former MPA Sardar Saleh Muhammad Bhootani has said that all the allied parties would be taken on board before taking any final decision so that a pro-masses government is formed in a highly sensitive province.

Talking to media here, he said that Balochistan needs a lot of attention as the masses have pinned countless hopes on the new government, adding that, therefore, such a government may be formed that has a high sense of the masses issues.

In yet another development for formation of government, the President of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) Mir Jam Kamal Aliani called on BNP-M, saying that meeting other political is a positive custom in the political culture, adding their meeting with Sardar Akhter Mengal today was positive as they have their own political stance on issues of Balochistan which is their strength.

He said that BAP was a progressive party and it is also positive to note that at centre PTI has acquired majority that too holds a positive view about the solution of problems of the county, adding if there is a will towards solution of the problems there is no reason why such problems are not resolved as raised by Sardar Sahab and serisousness is a must for them.

He said that it is the responsibility of the political stalwarts of Balochistan to work for the resolution of these problems, adding that BNP-M has planned to take up the matter further along their parliamentary committees in Quetta, taking on board their ally JUI-F and they too would follow the suit in Balochistan and a meeting of their parliamentary committee would take place that night that would decide the name of their parliamentary leader.

Talking to newsmen, Sardar Akhtar Mengal said that as for as becoming part of government alliance is concerned, he had told Jam Kamal said that BNP-M has a alliance with JUI in Balochistan and any decision in this regard shall be taken following a meeting of a joint committee and any decision in this regard would be taken in consultation with JUI. “As for as the issues of Balochistan are concerned, we have handed them over a booklet along with the list of missing persons and now it also falls within the ambit of their responsibilities to resolve the issues of Balochistan, be it missing persons or CPEC,” Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal concluded.
