QUETTA: The internal sources in provincial government revealed that the incumbent Vice Chancellor BUITMS Dr. Farooq Bazai doesn’t match the required qualification for running the office of VC terming his appointment and four times extension illicit.
The Opposition Parties have decided to discuss the issue in Provincial Assembly during coming proceedings while a resolution seeking investigations over appointment of Vice Chancellor of Balochistan University of Information Technology and Management Sciences (BUITMS) and appointments made during his tenure would be submitted in the BA.
According to the ordinance of the University set back in 2002 says, a Vice Chancellor must be a PHD degree holder and termed mandatory of fresh appointments of new VC and Registrar after every two years.
Following the rules of BUITMS a Vice Chancellor can be granted further extension for next two years but ironically the current VC Dr. Farooq Bazai have been enjoying the post from last 10 years with four times extension granted to him.
Sources claimed that the incumbent VC don’t possess PHD degree in any filed which makes them ineligible for the distinguish post of Vice Chancellor in BUITMS.
“Majority of the faculty staff in the University had been appointed on adhoc basis and then declare permanent staff by the university administration but following the bill passed in Provincial Assembly back in October 2015, the appointment must be filled through NTS tests with minimum percentage of 60%.” Sources added.
The VC Balochistan has been facing allegation of admitting hundreds of students on political favors and spared them from semester’s fees which indeed stole the rights of poor and qualified students.
With more irony after 18th amendment former Chief Ministers were kept their eyes blinded over the issue while former Governors granted four times extension to Dr. Farooq Bazai with clear violation of university’s rules.
Many political parties in the province alleged that instead of functionalizing Chiltan Campus of the versity, Vice Chancellor BUITMS deliberately commended studies in Loralai and Zhob Campuses.
An opposition party member had been pursuing the issue from past many years and decided to submit all evidence against current VC in provincial Assembly.
A resolution seeking impartial investigation against VC BUITMS over misuse of powers, corruption illicit appointments and other issues would be submitted in Balochistan Assembly during coming session.
