QUETTA: The residents of Dera Bugti alleged that another woman died on Friday while being shifted to Rahim Yar Khan Punjab Province due to her maternal complexities as not a single gynecologist was presented in the DHQ Hospital.
Munshi Khan Bugti resident of Zanko Street Dera Bugti was taking her pregnant wife Mehnaz Bibi to Rahim Yar Khan Punjab Province on Friday but she died on the way to the Hospital due to maternal complexities.
The family alleged from past one year many mothers and children were died in Dera Bugti as none of lady gynecologist was willing to perform her duties in the downtrodden Dera Bugti District,
“Instead of taking her to the DHQ Hospital we decided to shift our patient direct to Punjab but she died while being transported to the Hospital.” The heirs of Mehnaz Bibi added.
Maternal mortality rate has been increasing rapidly in Dera Bugti from last one years due to lack of lady gynecologist in the District. Since last month at least 6 maternal mortality cases were reported while the number has reached to 21 in 2018.
Refuting the allegations the officials of District Health Department said, the prime cause of maternal mortalities in Dera Bugti were lack of awareness among women and families,
“In many cases pregnant women dies due to inappropriate care and lack of healthy foods which causing maternal mortalities in the District.” Health officials said adding lady gynecologist has been performing her duties from past many days and routinely checking maternal cases.
