London (08/10/2019): The Baloch Human Rights Council (BHRC) has recently designated Dr Khurshid Karim and Mr Razzak Baloch as their representatives in the ASEAN region and the USA respectively.
The BHRC representative in the ASEAN region Dr Khurshid Karim is known for his active participation in the struggle for the educational rights of the Baloch students in Balochistan. He was one of the founding members of Baloch Students Action Committee, BUITEMS that struggled to devolve the admission policy of Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) to district-based open merit to ensure the students from less privileged districts of Balochistan are provided equal representation and opportunity to benefit from the education system in BUITEMS.
He is a poet and usually writes on the social, political and human rights matters concerning Baloch and Balochistan. Dr Khurshid Karim is a PhD in Industrial Biotechnology and is currently based in Hat Yai, Thailand.
Mr Razzak Baloch, who has been nominated as the organizer of BHRC in the USA, has a long association of forty-five years with the Baloch national struggle for the right to national self-determination. He has been actively working to raise awareness in the concerned quarters in the USA on the worsening human rights situation in Balochistan. He is currently based in Miami, USA.
Baloch Human Rights Council is an international human rights organization that since its inception in 2008 has been highlighting the plight of the Baloch people at international fora. It has in recent months held major awareness campaigns in Geneva about the appalling human rights situation in Balochistan while its members have also through interventions informed the UNHRC of the human rights challenges facing the Baloch people in Iran and Pakistan. BHRC is headed by renowned Baloch scholar and historian Dr Naseer Dashti.
